Active Acquisitions appeared before the Chesterfield Township Planning Board in the first of several hearings to present professional testimony to gain Preliminary and Final Site Plan Approval for the 1.3sq ft warehouse project proposed for the former OYCC property, and the neighboring property also referred to as Block 701, Lots 1.02 and 2.01.
This first hearing held on May 16, 2023, had the building architect and the community resource professional testify for the developer, Active Acquisitions. The planning board members had some questions of the architect regarding the color scheme for the building and there were some additional questions from the board and the public of the representative of Dovetail, the community resource professional contracted by Active Acquisitions to excavate artifacts from the site and to work with the DEP’s State Historic Preservation Office. She was providing testimony on the viability of the plan to move the historically significant 1740 Black House elsewhere on the property and or neighboring property. The representative from Dovetail testified to the site excavating process in detail, sharing approximate numbers of artifacts found including artifacts from the Leni Lenape people such as tools and arrowheads but was unable to testify as to the structure moving process or answer any questions to the moving process, siting that she was not a structural engineer
On April 20th, 2023, DEP enforcement officers cited Three Putt, LLC with two violations based on evidence that the former country club was pumping water, clay, and silt from their onsite irrigation ponds into a tributary of Blacks Creek located on a neighboring property without the appropriate dewatering permits. The citations were issued to Three Putt LLC, the group that still owns the property known as the former Old York Country Club and were signed by Dave Wheeler, a Three Putt LLC representative.
On the evening of 4/19/2023, an initial call was made by witnesses including a property owner at 102 Bordentown-Georgetown Road to the DEP reporting a concern that there was a spill occurring in the tributary that flowed into Blacks Creek. The DEP advised that the Local Fire Department to be contacted immediately, which was done. Prior to the Fire Department making it on scene, a Chesterfield Police Department Officer responded and referred in his report that he witnessed an unknown black substance flowing.

Chesterfield was settled in 1677 by Quaker immigrants, and Chesterfield Township was formed in 1688. It took 90 years to be incorporated in 1798 encompassing three villages of the township- Crosswicks, -the oldest settlement, Recklesstown -now Chesterfield and Plattsburg- now Sykesville. Chesterfield Township has always been a rural agriculturally strong community even when Main Street in Crosswicks was used as a significant route of travel between Philadelphia and New York.
Over the years Chesterfield has changed, grown, evolved. During that growth and evolution, the town has lost coverage on its local news. Chesterfield residents have come to rely on social media and word of mouth to find out what is happening in our great town which has resulted in difficulty in searching for information all in one place as well as finding complete, accurate information. Chesterfield Spotlight recognizes that the lack of a local news source puts our residents, businesses, and farms at a true disadvantage. Chesterfield Spotlight will strive to make monthly free access to community news, events, and resources. The news resource will be circulated in an online format that will include meeting schedules, event calendars, business, and farm articles as well as informational topics of interest to the community.
